There will be more of my own work coming soon. I got to a point where I could solder some of the stained glass panels together, and then realized I didn’t have any flux. (Without flux, I can melt the solder, but that is basically the end of the fun. There is no assembly, the solder won’t stick to the glass pieces.)

Openly Admired: Stanislav Szukalski

There is a brilliant artist you have likely never heard of, unless you follow my ravings pretty closely. Stanislav Szukalski, a genius who lived in America for decades, and isn’t heard of. At least, not when I was in art school, 10 years ago. He fled Poland, and much of his body of work was destroyed with the rest of Warsaw. But what there is, is magnificent. He has an absolutely delicious grasp of the pre-Columbian South American and also Oceanic (esp. Maori) aesthetics. He maybe claimed never to have seen or been influenced by these, but … well. You’ll see. For someone who claimed not to have been influenced by them, he sure did have a firm grasp on all the moves.

Go look through the gallery; come back and tell me which one you like.
